Our groceries

We built up the garden this spring. We've got 4 20x4 ft. beds, plus the border beds that are 2 feet wide. We had to pause on our house work in order to get the plants in the ground. Let's see, we've had broccoli, lettuce, onions, beans, peppers, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, squash and zucchini. Then I've also got a couple of blueberry bushes, some strawberry plants, and some herbs. And a really cool gourd plant that will turn into a sponge when it dries out. The picture of the long thing on the bottom is this gourd. We'll see how it turns out!

Gardening this year has been great, although I'm still not producing as much as I want to be. The kids learned a lot though, which was really important to me. They've planted, weeded, picked, cleaned, and eaten. The summer harvest is about to finish up, and we've gotten our seeds ready to plant our fall harvest. I can't wait for the lettuce and broccoli! Those are two of my favorites from the garden.

Love it!!! I should take a shot of our container garden. I have noticed that the buddies will eat things out of it because they planted it and cared for it, that they otherwise would never touch.
