Eowyn's first day of school!

So, this is a little late, but we started home-schooling last Wednesday! We are in a new community here in Albemarle, called Classical Conversations. We all meet once a week, in a class setting with a tutor (who happens to be my mom!) and then the rest of the week is up to us teachers at home. It is an awesome program using the classical model of education and it is Christ-centered! I love it! In the foundations group, which is Pre-K to 6th, the kids learn the grammar of education, which is basically just that they memorize, memorize, memorize. It works because their minds are like little sponges at this point. Then, in 4th we'll add Essentials, which is also called the Dialetic stage, when they can start understanding the many things they've already memorized. Dialetic last through the 8th grade, and then high school is called the rhetoric stage, when they gain wisdom and are allowed and able to share it. It's the biblical method, knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.

How is Eowyn doing? Well, her expectations were different then the true event. And she never does well with routine changes. But she's getting better, the hard work of school is what threw her off. She expected all fun and games!

Ok, I'm off to do some schoolwork! (I know it's a holiday, but Eowyn doesn't!)
